Substance abuse also commonly referred to as drug abuse, is the excessive use of certain chemicals for the purpose of creating pleasurable effects on the brain. These include alcohol, pain medication or illegal drugs. In this article, we would be using drug abuse and substance abuse interchangeably.

It’s United Nations Day, and here I am, lounging on the sofa, pondering the significance of this day. Why do we even have a UN Day? What’s the reason behind celebrating the UN? And why is it important for our organization to join in this celebration?

I myself became a second-chain smoker in my third year at the University. I had heard about all the dangers of drug abuse and I did well enough to ensure I did not get myself into taking drugs but obviously, I could not influence my neighbor’s whose activities inherently affected me as well.
